The Twilight Journals

My husband forwarded me an e-mail he got from Borders telling him about a new Stephenie Meyer release called the Twilight Journals. He thought this would be of interest to me since I'm a big Twilight fan. What he doesn't seem to understand is that I am a Robert Pattinson fan, not a Twilight fan...big difference.

This new marketing ploy is a set of four journals in the Twilight-theme for people (OK, girls) to use to write down their "thoughts and dreams, stories and secrets". You know the Twilight moms are going to be buying this so that they'll have some place to store all that dirty fan-fic they've been dreaming up (not me, I swear).

The set of four journals can be pre-ordered at Borders.com for $17.49. They will be available on Oct 13th (my birthday! what a coincidence.)

P.S. I give Stephenie Meyer an "F" for originality on this one...does she really need to steal yet another concept from The Vampire Diaries?

IKEA Crib, Mattress, and Sheets

My in-laws decided to get a crib for their house so that my son would have somewhere to sleep when we stay over. They went with the IKEA Gulliver crib.
I have to say for $99 this crib is awesome! I had read reviews on various sites about how good IKEA cribs are, so I suggested they get one from there rather than spending hundreds of dollars at a furniture store. The crib is lower to the ground (no drop-side), so it's easy to put the baby down without straining your back.

Besides the crib, I found the IKEA crib mattress to be very good too. Soft but firm.
Also, the sheets are surprisingly soft...dare I say, even softer than my Baby Gap ones! And they are only $8.99 for a set of two! All in all, IKEA is a great place to get a second crib for grandma's house. It's also good for first time parents on a budget. You don't need a fancy, shmancy crib to make a nursery look good. Focus your attention on creating a fun environment for your child with wall art and unique toys instead.

Dogs Have it So Good

My dog loves to sit on my couch. Unfortunately, years of scratching, licking, and wet paws has made my microfiber couch look like it's been through a war. Perhaps a couch of his own will do the trick?

Or maybe I should just get something that blends right into my furniture...

Halloween Costumes for Kids

Halloween is a little over a month away so if you have kids, now is the time to start searching for the perfect costume. My son was only 4 months old last Halloween so he went to daycare in a pirate pajama outfit (not from the Pyramid Collection). Here are some cute costume ideas for your little ones.

NY Fashion Week Highlight: The Snuggie!

A new line of Snuggies were unveiled at a NYC runway show this week. I can't believe how far the Snuggie has come. I remember watching those ridiculous infomercials and thinking "Who the hell is going to buy this?". Well, it looks like people are buying it, because the Snuggie has become a pop culture phenomenon. And if it's good enough for the runway, it's good enough for me!

Bubbles in My Chocolate?

Bubble chocolate, an aerated chocolate bar, has been made available in the US. Apparently, Bubble Chocolate has been a phenomenon in Europe for a long time. As far as I am concerned, holes in your chocolate, mean less chocolate in your bar. But I guess there is an upside. As per the Bubble Chocolate press release:

"This is a new Bubble Chocolate that's all natural and reformulated to introduce Americans to the aerated chocolate craze that has dominated international markets for decades," says Frank Drab, president Bubble Chocolate . "The timing is right to bring something new and exciting to the U.S. market. Americans will love it, the international community will be happy to have it and it will be a favorite among dieters who are looking for a satisfying, yet lower calorie chocolate fix."
People on restricted calorie diets, tend to prefer this type of chocolate. The nature of the aerated process makes the bars lower in calories than a regular chocolate bar, and despite the lower calories, it does not compromise the overall taste experience. In fact, since Bubble Chocolate literally melts in-your-mouth, the taste is more immediate and the burst of flavor tends to satisfy chocolate cravings sooner. As the company slogan states, it's "Just the Right Amount of Chocolate ."

So this is how you market chocolate bars to fat people? I'm pretty sure I've tried this stuff before. My mother shops at Russian delis so this has probably ended up in her pantry at one time or another. If memory serves, I wasn't a big fan. But at this point in my life, if Bubble Chocolate can trick my brain into thinking I'm eating a real chocolate bar, I say bring on the bubbles!
Bubble Chocolate is available in milk and dark chocolate flavors. It retails for $2.49 a bar.
